Recommendations of the JINR Network Services

      Dear Colleagues,
      Due to the growing problems of interaction with foreign networks and because of constant cyber attacks, we strongly recommend that all users:

      1) Keep copies of important data on local resources. Back up critical working documents from your computers. Use separate storage media (flash drives, external drives). Connect these external storage media to computers only for the backup procedure. Repeat backups at least once a month, saving at least two copies, preferably on different media.

      2) On Windows 10/11 operating systems, do not use a network account connecting to Microsoft systems. Only use a local account. If you have used such a network account - contact the lab administrator.

      3) Do not use external cloud services for office workflow. Especially emphasize that you should not store office files, data, photos or any materials on the following services:

        - Google Disk,
        - Microsoft OneDrive,
        - Dropbox,
        - iCloud, and others.
      Use the service disk.jinr.ru or lab resources. If you had data in cloud services - transfer it to local disk.

      4) Keep business correspondence from @jinr.ru or lab @xxx.jinr.ru email addresses. Do not set redirection of your e-mail address to external mail services. If you have previously aggregated @jinr.ru mail (i.e., for example, @jinr.ru box was connected to yandex mail or google mail and you delegated your password to this service) at external services - you should remove aggregation and change your mail password at https://noc.jinr.ru/ru/service/mail-change-pass.php

      5) If you used closed software for remote access, such as: TeamViewer, AnyDesk, AmyAdmin etc. - these programs should be removed from the computer and connect to the JINR network from external networks only using the JINR VPN/RDP connection. https://noc.jinr.ru/ru/service/remote-access.php

      6) Be especially cautious when receiving messages ostensibly from "IT Department" or even "LIT Network Service", when in the text they ask to change the password because of the allegedly appropriate limit on the mailbox size quota. Note that "LIT Network Services" employees never:

        - send unnamed messages, i.e. messages signed as "IT Team," etc. Always behind this or that message will be the name, surname of the employee, which you can identify through https://pin.jinr.ru/;
        - provide links to third-party resources for any service functions. If the password should be changed, the resource to which you are sent the link will be of the form: https://...jinr.ru/

          If you receive any such messages, please call us back at 216-34-88.
          If you have any questions about assistance or you need advice, please contact your local system administrators: https://noc.jinr.ru/ru/about-us/adm-syst.php
