Configuring mail in the Thunderbird client
All the data for setting up the mail is indicated in your registration sheet, which you were given in room 200 in LIT when registering
the mailbox.
To configure mail collection in Thunderbird using POP3 or IMAP, follow these steps:
- Start Thunderbird.
- On the File menu, select >Create/Account ... (New/ Account ...). The Accounts wizard starts.
- In the New Account Setup window, select the Email account option and click the Next button.
- In the Identity window, in the Name field, type in your name. The recipients of your letters will see what you write
in the "Name" field in the "From" field. In the Email Address field, enter your e-mail address. Click the "Next" button.
- In the server Information window, specify POP3 or IMAP as the server type. In the Server name for the incoming server field,
specify POP3 mail.jinr.ru, for the IMAP protocol, mail.jinr.ru , And for the Outgoing server - mail.jinr.ru. Click the "Next" button.
- In the User Names window, in the User name and User name (SMTP server) fields specify your login on the mail and click "Next".
- In the Account name window, specify the name of the mailbox you create. Click the "Next" button.
- In the next window, make sure that the entered data is correct, click on the "Finish" button.
- If the checkbox is selected in the "Load letters" box, Thunderbird will try to download messages from the server.
The first time you access the server, you will be prompted for the password. If you select the "Remember my password" checkbox
in the password input window, the password will not be requested again.
