Creating a VPN connection for remote access to the JINR network

Open the Control Panel:


Select Network Connections:


Select "Create a new connection":


Then follow the wizard's instructions in accordance with the pictures below: Click "Next:


Select "Connect to the network at the workplace":


Select "Virtual Private Network Connection":


Enter a name for your connection (for example JINR):


Select "Do not dial the number for the preliminary connection":


Enter the VPN server address:


Click the "Finish" button (if you want, you can add a connection shortcut to the desktop):


Next, you need to configure the resulting connection. To do this, move the mouse cursor over the newly formed icon
(in this case, "JINR") and press the right button. Select Properties:


In the window that opens, select the "Network" tab and then the specified VPN type:


On the "Security" tab, and the connection properties, uncheck "Requires data encryption (otherwise disconnect)":


Then, double-clicking on the shortcut of the received connection, you will see below the window in which you need to enter your login and password, and click the "Connection" button (if you want, you can choose "Save username and password" so that you do not enter the password again when Every connection attempt):


Possible connection errors:

In the lower left corner, the inscription "the network cable is not connected"

  • You need to check whether the Network cable is securely connected to the computer; The light bulbs on the network card should be on or blinking, if none of the lights is on, and the network cable is plugged in and work properly, contact technical support.
  • If there was a reinstallation of any drivers, you should check the correct functioning of the Network Card driver and, if necessary, reinstall its driver
Error 691 - Name and password are not allowed in this domain.
  • Verify that the Username and Password are correct, exactly the same as the case.
    When entering a password, pay attention to the displayed input language and the status of the CapsLock key.

Error 769 - Specified destination unreachable
  • Most likely, the network adapter is disabled in Device Manager. Turn on the network adapter and try connect again.
  • The driver for the network card may not have been installed.
  • The network settings may not be connected or lost.
Error 678: No response
  • Check that the LAN cable is properly connected to the network card - as an option, disconnect the network cable from the computer and connect again. Check all connections, sockets and patch cords (if installed).
  • Try to restart the computer - very often this error pops up in case of incorrect initialization of the device driver when Windows starts.
  • Verify that the network card driver is installed correctly.
